As the daughter of a war refugee, ilikeu grew up immersed in a rich tapestry of cultural practices, influenced by the folklore, poetry, and superstitions of her ethnic background rooted in both Pakistani and Scottish Gaelic ancestry.
ilikeu’s early experiences included witnessing the emotional release of grief in mourning circles and the healing rituals of sewing circles. She was also part of festive clan gatherings, fasting ceremonies, and communal feasts closely tied to the lunar cycles.
As an American born fine artist and visual storyteller, ilikeu’s work is inspired by the distinctive landscape of Texas Hill Country, where her studio overlooks fields of native wildflowers that shift from vibrant blooms to golden grasses, in harmony with the moon’s natural rhythm.
She embraces a lifestyle that honors mystery and presents art for contemplation and/or meditation. Each piece is created with the intention to serve as a protective presence and energy in its environment.
